It is incredibly cool when a friend bails you out. That happened to me late last week.
The last couple of weeks have been pretty rough ones. That is as big of an understatement as has ever been worded. Saying the last month has been difficult for me is like the captain of the Titanic saying, “Looks like we are taking on a little water!”
In any event, a long term friend of mine in Ohio, saved my week in many respects. I “met” this friend, known here as RA over Prodigy Bulletin Boards in the infancy of the Internet for home users back in the very early 1990’s. She is an attorney who left the field out of disgust, and is likewise quite an accomplished keyboardist in her church. (Sort of blows your mind doesn’t it?) Anyway, we have had a great corresponding friendship for going on 15 years now. We have met for lunch 2-3 times and she and her husband visited my former church while in Pittsburgh a couple years ago.
Here however, is her moment of assistance. You recall my comments a while back on my grandson Gavin, and the concerns we are having with his growth patterns. If not, read them on June 22 and 23 here. As we have been praying and attempting to decide what to do, I have kept her in the loop on this decision. Last Friday, in the mail, I received from her a prayer shawl. It was personally knitted for us to use in prayer for Gavin. The card was what really hit me. It read, “I started to knit it small since Gavin is small, but decided to pray for Gavin to grow and making a small prayer shawl is like praying for rain and not taking your umbrella.”
Enough said. RA, thanks for your friendship! And I promise to never again make fun of your knitting or your cross stitch retreats!!
